Markus Berger has a degree in Civil Electromechanical Engineering from the University of Brussels (ULB), an Executive Master in Management and Business Administration from the Solvay Business School and a diploma from the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD.
He took various positions in the energy sector before joining the organization that would become Elia in June 2001, in charge of maintenance services for southern Belgium from 2001 to 2002. He joined the Executive Committee of Elia as Chief Officer Grid Services and later became Managing Director of Elia Engineering, a position that remains his responsibility to this day. In 2010, he became Chief Officer Asset Management.
He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Elia Grid International in March 2014.
Markus is also a member of the Investment Committee and the Board of Eurogrid International, the holding company created by Elia and IFM (Industry Fund Management for their joint acquisition of 50Hertz). He is also a Board member of UWE (Union Wallonne des Entreprises), UWEL (Union Wallonne des Entreprises de Liège), Bemas, Ampacimon and the Cigré association.
Daniel holds Master's Degrees in Business Administration and Electrical Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin and ESCP Paris. Daniel previously worked as a Strategy Consultant for Roland Berger for several years. In this context he advised the top management of leading European power and gas companies.
He joined 50Hertz in 2013 where he was responsible for strategy development and business planning. He was also deeply involved in strategic discussions on the Elia Group level and contributed to the project team that initiated and set up Elia Grid International. Daniel was appointed Chief Corporate & Financial Officer of Elia Grid International in 2015.
His areas of expertise include strategy development, business planning, business process re-engineering, strategic controlling, financial management and project management.
Lea holds a Master´s Degree in “International Business Studies (M.A.)” as well as a post-grad diploma of the Humboldt University of Berlin in “International Cooperation”. After graduating she joined the Collective Leadership Institute, a training institute focused on cross-sector partnerships and stakeholder collaboration, where she managed the international capacity development portfolio and worked as a stakeholder engagement trainer.
In 2014 she joined 50Hertz where she managed different projects from portfolio management, strategy development and implementation to public acceptance and corporate communications.
Joining Elia Grid International in 2016 gave Lea the opportunity to continue her international working experience as well as further developing her partnership-building and stakeholder engagement skills. As a Business Developer Lea is focusing on identifying and developing new opportunities in Europe with a focus on the Balkan region. In addition she supports the corporate activities and strategic development of the German branch of Elia Grid International in Berlin.
Didier holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineer, an Executive Master in general Management and a Master in Innovation Management. He has more than 20 years of experience in Power System Engineering and Strategic Asset Management.
He worked as a Research Engineer at the University of Brussels and as an Research and Development Engineer at Siemens in Berlin before joining the Elia Group in 2000.
He held several positions as Manager Governance New Assets, Senior Manager Maintenance, Methods & Knowledge, Head of Technical Governance & Expertise where he ran a team of 90 experts and was in charge of the coordination of all activities related to the lifecycle management of Power Transmission Assets.
He was appointed Chief Officer Solutions & Services of Elia Grid International in 2014 and became Chief Operating Officer in 2016.
His areas of expertise include Power Systems Engineering, Protection & Control Engineering, HVDC Systems, Offshore Grids Technologies, Strategic Asset Management (PAS-55, ISO55000), Technical Due Diligence of T&D infrastructures, Project Management and Strategic Organizational Changes.
Didier is also an active member of several organizations including ENTSO-E, Cigre, IEEE and IAM.
Oussama Bidara is a Business Development Manager, focusing on identifying and developing new opportunities in the Middle East Region. He supports all the operational, administrative and financial activities for the company's regional development. He also manages the commercial relation with all the company clients in the region.
He joined the Elia Group in 2011, after several work experiences in the IT and pharmaceutical sector where he helped organizations define their stakeholders engagement strategies.
His main fields of expertise are project management, stakeholders management and business development. He has participated in several international projects and consultancy projects, either as project manager or business consultant, focused on stakeholders management or strategic organizational changes.
Oussama Bidara has a Master's Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering and in Business Management, both from the University of Brussels (ULB).
